Vamp's Contest Spam Template & Hosting Guide

Contest Spam Template

When spamming for a fishing contest, it is best to follow one simple guideline - KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid prevents any misunderstandings or confusion, and yet gets your announcement across quickly and easily.

The following is a template for creating a simple but affective spam that can be used at any time. Creating a notecard with all of the following information included will save having to retype it over and over again, and can be copied (CTRL + C) and pasted (CTRL + V) to group chat with ease.

1. Type of contest - Limited (Unbaited) or
Unlimited (Baited)
2. Length of contest - How long contest will last in minutes.
3. Start Time - When contest will start.
4. Name & Location - Where the contest will be held & who sponsors it, if any.
5. Contest Info - Starting Pot Total, Split among ranked contestants(Top 3 or Top 5).
6. Rules & Exclusions - Are hosts allowed to enter the contests?? Who is allowed to join?? Is there a rake or required buy-in on the pot?? Maturity rating on the sim (Adult, Mature, PG)
7. SLurl for getting to the contest. This can be easily retrieved while standing where you wish your guests to land by opening your map and clicking on 'Copy SLURL to Clipboard' and then pasting (CTRL + V
) to the group chat.
8. Do you offer custom catches with a CPG (Custom Prize Giver).

The following is an example of my own contest spam. Use it as a guide for your own.

~*~ 60 min. UNLIMITED contest at 12 pm. SLT, hosted by Dragos Bushmasters. Clothing optional, Adults only (Verification Req.), NO child avatars, toons, or tinys. Pot starts at 100L with cash prizes for 1st-5th place (No Rake or Req Buy-in, Host Excluded, Autocasters welcome). Custom Trophies for 1st-3rd. Donations to pot kindly appreciated. Come catch a set of special Vampirella customs.~*~

Hosting Guide

The ability to host your own event is a privilege and a pleasure, but to your guests it can be somewhat confusing. That is why I have created this guide. This guide will lay out simple steps for you to follow in order to be the perfect host/hostess at any event regardless of whether it is for fishing, gaming, or some other type of event.

The following steps should help you to be a most effective and efficient host:

1. Greet each visitor individually. Nothing says welcome, very nice to have you here than a smile and a greeting. (Ex. Greetings and welcome, Vamp.)

2. Don't overwhelm your guests with unnecessary spam. Many attend your events for a particular reason, and it's not always for the pleasure of shopping or exploring. Many fisher persons come to fish for the contests only and have no interest in any other matters you may have available. Most, if not all, will be AFK doing other things in their real lives, or they just prefer the peaceful solitude and quiet relaxation of a contest. One spam before and one near the end of an event should be sufficient enough to get attention if guests are interested.

3. State clearly any rules or regulations for the property where you are hosting. This will save any confusion or misunderstandings later.

And the most important point of all:

HAVE FUN!!
