Fishing for Lindens by Gearbox Scientists

Postby Gearbox Scientist » 28 Dec 2009, 08:59

Gearbox Scientists has just created its first product for use with the 7Seas Fishing Game.....
FISHING FOR LINDENS!!!!!........
With this simple product any fishing area owner can put real lindens in the water for their fishermen/fisherwomen to catch!!!!
As long as your patrons own a 7seas rod they will be able to catch Vouchers and Coins that they can turn into the cash machines to redeem real lindens.

Fishing area owners have the ability to turn on/off the cash machines at any time and even configure daily payout amounts. The cash machines count down through floating text and show the patrons how much is left to be paid though the day. When the daily payout amount reaches zero the cash machine shuts down for the day or until the area owner resets it and patrons just have to come back another time to cash in their linden vouchers. With upcoming changes to camping rules in SL this is a safe and productive alternative to camping. Not only do patrons have to cash in their vouchers/ coins at the area they caught them at but to catch the better linden amounts they might need to use better equipment and bait!!!

First you should read this post by Linden Labs..http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_ ... _Games_FAQ.

Then you should ask yourself if this is a game of chance.
1) If you are familiar with 7Seas you know that the only chance lies in what you catch not if you catch something.
2) This system is right inline with the Bounty Hunt Scenario, the system asks you for a certain item and if you obtain it you are awarded a linden amount. The difference is that no matter if you have bait or not or a pro pole or not you can still catch fish meaning you can still catch linden vouchers. Also I would like to note that the buying of bait or a pro pole through the 7Seas Fishing Game does not increase your chances of catching these Linden vouchers. Regardless of skill a person with no bait and demo pole can catch the same amount as someone with upgraded equipment in that its a matter of time not chance.
3)We as creators of this system sell this system at a set amount for use by 7Seas Fishing Area owners. This also has no effect on the amount of Lindens the people at their areas can catch. The cash machines included with this system are configured to accept DONATIONS, to help the area owners pay back into the system and is not required by any means.
4)We as creators of this system did not create it to be used as a wagering system but more to be used as a traffic enhancement system within the policies of Linden Labs.

From the facts you can draw your own conclusions. We do reserve intellectual rights over this product/idea.
5) We as a group have decided not to post the email from Linden Labs as it was not intended for public viewing.

We do appreciate your comments and would hope that if you have further comments or suggestions that you would direct them to this forum or IM one of the owners of the Gearbox Scientist group. Thank you.

I've only run this 24 hours so far (at Alien Isles) and I need to juggle the payouts, but in fact that's one of the strengths, you have total control there. The vouchers go into your CPG so they can be linked to any rarity level and you can add more than one to that rarity card. You can also set the vouchers to payout any amount you choose and as a final check you can set an overall limit per day which means you won't come in and find your account cleared out!

The setup instructions could use tweaking for anyone not used to permissions and CPGs - be VERY careful to set the vouchers to NO COPY for next person (the lower set of permissions)!! Overall, very impressed.
