Progressive Blueprint idea

Postby Darius Draken » 21 Dec 2008, 01:53

One of the things I am trying to do is get people to do some of my island adventures (which are all related to the sea in one way or another)

Currently I use some of the custom prizes as clues to these adventures (before that, visitors had to explore the island to pick up a clue that there was an adventure to be played)

I see a potential for custom blue prints in this if it would be possible to include other objects then salvage (objects that can be won through custom prizes) to complete a blue print, but instead of the blue print ending there, the blue print would progress.

A scenario could be as follows:

Player X retrieved blue print A for an island adventure and catches clues 1,2 and 3 that reveal an location of the island where a part of the interactive adventure can be played.
Upon successful interaction the the player gets an object that allows him to put blue print A in a progressive mode (eg turning the blue print in a new blueprint B) Then the player continues with blueprint B,, gathering more clues and salvage untill all stages of the adventure (gathering clues, visiting interactive areas) are completed and there is a grand prize to it.

The ability to do thing would greatly enhance the possibilities of the 7Seas system (7Seas adventures?) and could make an additional product for 7 seas with pre-baked adventures that purchasers could set up by using CPG's and object that come with the adventure.

Anyways, as soon I get my hands on a blue print development kit I will see if I can do anything in that direction and let you know :ugeek:

Cheers

I am a Beta Tester of the Blueprint so i have one up and running with salvage and prize and all (you should be able to get one now too i think). As far as i can tell, the only way you could do that would be to make certain salvage only available in certain areas, like your doing with other prizes, so they would have to visit them all to complete the blueprint.
I think the idea of one blueprint leading into the next blueprint is great, but i dont see it being possible with the current kit.

You could also work out an arrangement with other area owners where one of your salvage is only available in someone elses area and one of theres is only available in yours, so you get each others traffic. But your idea of making ongoing 7seas adventures is great :)

Actually, on 2nd thought i dont see why you couldnt assign the prize for completing the blueprint A to be blueprint B and the prize for completing blueprint B to be blueprint C... actually it may be able to be done,

Just put the first blueprint in the notecard of the CPG so it will be caught and the others only in the script of the blueprints, so you catch bp A, then salvage A&B, add those to BP A, and get BP B as a prize, then you have to catch salvage C&D and add that to BP B, ect....then when they finally complete the final Blueprint they get the grand prize...which better be damned good, lol.

The OpenBlueprint system has a lot of flexibility. Although the version I threw to you guys in Creative Commons style is our standard Salvage + Blueprint concept, honestly, it could be rewritten / redesigned as just about anything.

Consider -- now you have a "hook" to get direct, on-demand delivery of any item you want from your CPG (provided you know the password, of course, for security purposes). That means you can use it to do custom contest prizes, fish breeding minigames, progressive prize dispensing, and stuff I haven't even thought of yet!

Now's the time for skilled coders to step up, rip apart my code, and start experimenting. OpenSeas is all about forging your own mark on our system, and the more unique, the more creative you get, the more you can draw fishers to your area by providing something they've never seen before. (Case in point, Migizi's treasure hunt, which uses a very unusual variant of the system.)

Have fun, folks!
